Re: Anyone with a Kia Sportage? (Recommend a $5k 4dr hatchback!)
civic hatch. drop in b18c w\ money left for bolt ons. epic car 4 door. :( they only have 4 door hatches in Europe (btw: they look awesome). LOL I just noticed the part in the title about $5k. For $5k you can get any brand in a 2001 model in good condition with plenty of miles of life left. However ...

Re: Any experience with a Kia Sportage?
If I'm not mistaken they only started making them in 2001...AHTOXA wrote:If it's the older gen - run. Run and never look back.

Re: Any experience with a Kia Sportage?
It'd be tough to separate actual reliability stories vs. people who never took care of their car. You'll probably be ok, although I have heard it is difficult to get Kia parts. I don't know if that is true or not, though. There seem to be plenty still on the roads, at least around here... maybe tha...

Anyone with a Kia Sportage? (Recommend a $5k 4dr hatchback!)
Anyway, looking at getting one of these. Sadly reviews for this vehicle are highly mixed so it's practically impossible to determine what is blatant stupidity (aka: I drove it till the timing belt broke, now the engine is ruined... ergo piece of shit , amirite?), and what may actually be mechanical ...

Re: Towing and le overdrive
Long story short, everything went good, except I can understand the frustration involved with people getting on the freeway at 50mph, not only because of braking distance, but with the 190ft/lbs of torque I had and a full trailer... getting back up to speed took a reasonable amount of time. :( Also,...

Re: Towing and le overdrive
Quick question, not worth another thread... I got a bumper hitch, I'm looking to rent a 800lb trailer and probably load it with another 600-800lbs. Decently under the tow rating for the bumper (2klbs). My stepdad wont shut up about buying a hitch. Of course if I buy one I might as well go class 3 an...

Towing and le overdrive
So with autos this seems to be a big no-no most of the time. Wondering if this applies to a manual too. Of course foot to the floor in 5th isn't reasonable, but I'm driving for 28 bloody hours, and a lot of it is going to be flat. Do I really need to be puttering along in 4th the entire way? Opinion...

Anyone have any clue on how to remove the sub-woofer box? I can't seem to slide it in any direction.

Re: ZOMG need something that tows
why would you get rid of the sub unless its blown or something. if your gonna be driving for a while going slow cuz your towing something, youll want some decent music playing, not some garbage sounding stock paper speakers that sound like shit and have no bass at all. btw shouldve got a 3/4 ton cu...

Re: ZOMG need something that tows
Well looking to move across the US, and was looking at the price to rent a truck + trailer + trade in for my car, and getting something that tows is starting to look like a good idea (and just rent a trailer for a fraction of the price). Either way we want to get something that tows even after we m...

Re: ZOMG need something that tows
May be picking it up today/this week.
When I got in it the seller said:
"That car 5 speed"
"Yep"
"This wont drive like that"
"I know, I'm ready to embarrass myself... -stall-"
Only once though, got to get use to the heavier clutch and gearbox.

Re: ZOMG need something that tows
There's no such thing as an aftermarket tow package. You just have to add parts as necessary. Factory tow packages include such things as: - increased cooling capacity - larger automatic transmission coolers (doesn't matter to us!) - higher-rated alternator - heavier springs - other suspension or f...
