Re: Post a picture of your engine

^ Looks good! Is that the noise pipe on the left side? I've never seen an FSI with one still on before :D.

Just looked back and saw a PM thread of us talking about the MK5/MK6 GTI back in 2007. Glad to see she's still kickin'!

Here's mine:

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I just realized that I've been a member here since 2006. Holy crap!

This site hasn't changed a bit. I don't post much but I enjoy reading everyone's posts. I feel like I know all of you guys .

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Haha, probably. It took some work getting in there and I had to hunch down a bit to see the road but it worked. Didn't think I'd be able to fit at all since I tried getting into my neighbor's newer MX-5 once and just couldn't do it. Sat in a FR-S at the auto show recently. Felt good inside but it's ...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Guys, I have a question and didn't want to start a new thread just for this. Recently, I've noticed that my shifter has a squeaking sensation and noise. As far as I can tell, it only happens when moving the shifter left and right in neutral so the issue likely has to do with the centering spring or...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Next week or the week after I am going to sell the GTO and get a Fiesta ST. Sweet, dude. Fiesta ST is an awesome little car. Definitely would've been on my list if it had been around while I was shopping for my GTI. Speaking of which, I'm almost done doing everything I planned for it. Upgrading the...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Yeah, we had a few inches of show over ice, what, a month ago. Most folks stayed home for 2 days. We had some issues with commuting, but nowhere near as bad as in ATL. So glad I decided to work from home the past two days. One of my co-workers was stuck in his car for over 17 hours! Insane. The cit...

Re: The VW GTD, Coming to the US in 2016?

With an added 100HP it should definitely have been faster. The 100+ torques definitely makes it a bit more difficult with FWD. My Stage 2 GTI makes ~275HP/300TQ and going WOT in 1st/2nd is worthless, lots of throttle modulation is needed to get the car to go anywhere. I'm hoping those guys aren't r...

Welcome fellow ATLien and GTI driver! :D

You've picked a good car to start with, it's the easiest manual I've ever driven.

Here's a recent pic of our two guys that we adopted a year ago when they were just a few weeks old - Albus & Merlin.

Re: Tipping

People used to leave me tips quite often when I worked at Pizza Hut when they were picking up. It was nice since I was 16 and making next to nothing. BTW, it was just a delivery/carryout store, not a restaurant.

Re: Dents & Dings. Do you care?

Any sort of body damage drives me crazy. I recently had a dent taken out on my GTI after someone let a shopping cart go full speed into my rear passenger-side door. I was furious when I saw it. While it was in the shop, I had the front bumper repainted and any other scratches touched up.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

If I understand correctly, you're interested in exercising the popular strategy of making the car that you love rot parked while you spend all your time with a beater. I'm not a fan. Nah, I'm not one of those guys. I'd still drive my GTI often, I just wouldn't have it spend 3-4 hours in Atlanta tra...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I'm looking to buy a cheap DD since I drive a lot for work and I've already put over 20k miles on my GTI since I bought it in September of last year. Currently considering Nissan Maxima or Infiniti I30/I35 since I had great luck with my '97 Maxima aside from the crappy Nissan manual gearbox. Also co...

Re: 2014 Mazda 3 unveiled

I think it looks great. Reminds me a bit of the Infiniti EX35 from the side. I look forward to seeing what the Mazdaspeed version will look like :D. http://hooniverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/profile-2011-infiniti-ex-35.jpg http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2013/06/26/automobiles/wheels/mazd...
