Teens learn to drive stick on classic cars

Great video and story on Hagerty Insurance's Driving Experience. Teens get to drive classic cars with manuals. "Maybe they’re a little bit jerky trying to learn how to drive a car with a standard transmission. By the end of the classroom, they are pros" http://www.11alive.com/news/local/te...

Stick it to The Man: Cars that still offer a manual transmission in 2016

Not the best presentation of content via a slideshow, but it was interesting to see CNET covering such an article via their Roadshow site.

Manual Returns to 911 GT3

"Having neglected the purists in favor of the racers is a mistake Porsche doesn’t want to repeat, and therefore, the next generation of the GT3 almost certainly will be offered with both a six-speed manual and a seven-speed PDK." http://blog.caranddriver.com/hallelujah-next-gen-porsche-911...

Manual cars face extinction as congestion triggers a clutch backlash

The decline of the manual isn't just the US anymore. In Australia: "Figures from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries show just 13 per cent of all passenger cars sold in 2014 had a manual transmission, down from 33 per cent in 2000." The reasons are similar... Traffic, technology, ...

Seattle Carjacker Takes Off Without Car After Learning Its Stick Shift

http://abcnews.go.com/US/seattle-carjacker-takes-off-car-learning-stick-shift/story?id=31103184 Yes, time for another case of a carjacker not knowing how to drive manual. Wonder how many of these we will see this year. "He couldn't get the car moving," Seattle Police Detective Patrick Mic...

2016 Jaguar F-Type R Has AWD And 550 HP, But The Manual S Has More Fun

http://jalopnik.com/2016-jaguar-f-type-r-has-awd-and-550-hp-but-the-manual-1703954446 Some good quotes in this one: You already know three-pedal manual transmissions aren’t the “performance option” anymore. I’m not about to blather on about how “a proper manual transmission is the only pure driving...

https://rpubs.com/webered2009/79855 "This report provides basic summary and exploratory data analysis of the mtcars dataset located in the R datasets package. We focus in particular on determining whether automatic or manual transmission is better for fuel efficiency, and then quantify the diff...

Re: Why there are no more stick-shift Acuras

Does the CR-V even come with a stick in the US anymore?

I believe the CR-V lost its manual when the 2nd gen was released for the 2002 model year.

Just replying regarding why everything is shoved to the right on most sites nowadays... As the attention span of humans gets ever shorter, the idea is give the main content immediately versus nav and meta options first. http://blog.caranddriver.com/toyota-and-nissan-recall-6-5-million-cars-for-poten...

Why there are no more stick-shift Acuras

"For the first time in its 30-year history, Acura doesn't offer a manual gearbox." Here's an older article from earlier this year. Acura has more of a problem than just the shift to CUVs. Their naming, exterior design, and increased competitiveness from the competition are all factors in r...

Re: Let the updates commence...

Just using the default theme for now. User info to the right is the latest best practice...same goes with nav on the right on many sites nowadays. Will dig into the structure shortly. Biggest advantage is mobile-friendly along with compatibility with new modules. Themes improvements and page integra...

These 9 Cars Were Manual Only, Until Recently

"In enthusiast circles, the crop of purely manually shifted vehicles on sale today -- SRT Viper, Ford Focus ST, Honda Civic Si, and company -- is well-documented. There aren't many. But the yield would have been greater had the following nine cars* bucked up and held out against going automatic...

Re: 2015 Subaru Outback

Doesn't surprise me that the Outback dropped the manual option. There's also no standard height performance hatch/wagon in their lineup now, automatic or manual. I looked at four Subaru models back in 2004: Forester XT, Outback XT, WRX wagon and Legacy GT wagon. Now there isn't one model that fit th...
