Re: Exiting/Driving in Underground Garage, and 1st Gear Question

I can think of a reason to upshift if you consider engine warmup. You wouldn't redline the engine 30 seconds after you started the car; so I'd consider that one of the only exceptions to "running up your engine freely as long as it's under redline." I do think that in your situation what y...

Re: Question and Answer Session with Race Driver Gary Sheehan

i know this stuff is "on topic" so to speak... but this thread is specifically for asking Gary questions and letting him answer them, so let's try to stick to that format please. ;) Sorry about that, you're completely right. So here's my post edited into the form of a question- Gary, woul...

Re: Question and Answer Session with Race Driver Gary Sheehan

Re: Question and Answer Session with Race Driver Gary Sheehan

Wow, thanks for the detailed answer! People can really tell a lot about themselves through the cars they've owned. PS: Forgive me for I just have to throw this out there- HAH! Whoever thinks that a Miata is only a girl car (a friend uses a less polite term which I will refrain from using here) obvio...

Re: Question and Answer Session with Race Driver Gary Sheehan

Gary, these questions are about your own personal cars-
What was the first car that you bought and what car(s) do you have in your garage right now? Also, what qualities did these cars have that helped you make your decision to purchase them?

Re: How professionals drive

Well said Nychold. To add to this, we can say that you either drive for performance or for comfort. You have to trade one for the other.

The results would also include the trace metals and minerals found in the oil which would indicate engine wear (normal or abnormal...

Thanks, optical image stabilization helps a lot. I just wish I didn't have to use such a high film speed; that really adds a lot of noise to the pictures. A tripod would've helped but, that would've been too much to carry around SF. :)

Thought I could also add a few pictures to our collection. There's a better video on this site that illustrates heel and toe. Just go over to the video section and click on the last video- "Footbox video. Lap and a half of Sears Point". Gary Sheehan provides many examples of double clutch heel toe downshifting in that vid.
