Jomotopia’s new new ride
Nope, I didn’t get rid of the orange WRX. 5 years later it’s still my daily, I still love it, I’m thrashing it at Autocross, and it hasn’t even quite hit 50k miles yet. But I did add a new stick shift pony to the stable. This sweet 289 / 4 speed old girl! https://imageshack.com/a/img924/323/1hErwn.j...

Re: Hi Again
I was going to ask how you remember the route, but then I saw the passenger pointing. Well I was running in the Novice class so you get an experienced instructor with you. Next time I'll be on my own. But you walk the course in the morning and then you get 4 or 5 runs to get the hang of it. I kind ...

Re: Hi Again
do you regret getting the WRX over the STI at all?? Not really... I mean I kind of wish they had rolled an Orange STI off the truck instead, but given the choice between a boring color STI and the orange WRX, I'm happy. :D I guess the only thing that kinda sucks is that at Autocross here there does...

Re: jomotopia's new ride
How does it feel going from an STi to a WRX? You said you were just about to sign for a DGM STi. I probably would've stuck with the STi  . It feels a lot more comfortable! Can't tell how much I miss the power yet because I'm still in break-in. So far mainly I miss the 6 speed. Welcome back, Jo...

Re: jomotopia's new ride
very nice in orange, would love to see the interior as well. If you don't mind me asking, how much did it roughly cost you? I'll try to get some more pictures, including the interior, sometime soon. The interior is really nice with black upholstery, dash, and doors, with orange stitching highlights...

Re: Downshifting
It depends. If I can see that I'm going to have to stop from a decent distance away, I will usually downshift from 5 -> 4 and coast/engine brake, then stop and got to neutral from there, or continue on without ever braking if the light changes or whatever. But if it's something like going short dist...

Re: jomotopia's new ride
Well, my plan was to get a new dark gray STi and go wingless in order to be more low key. But I saw that orange and had to have it.potownrob wrote:I like the looks of that WRX, though I prefer the more conservative colors (black, silver, grey, white).

Re: Jerky first/2nd gear at Low RPMs
In addition to what everyone else has said, do you have the A/C on when this is happening? Just having the compressor kick on and off can cause a jerk when you're cruising along slowly in a low gear.

Re: How Often Do You Use Your Parking Brake? (no slushbox vo
I put other because not only do I use the hand brake every single time that I park the car (long with first gear), but I also use when I am stopped at lights. Foot brake is for bringing the car to a stop, hand brake is for keeping it there.

Wow, it's been a long time since I've been on here. Life sure has been busy over the last few years! Anyway, I traded in my 2004 STi this weekend and thought I would just drop by to show you all what I got. http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/4280/facebook1684829558.jpg http://img46.imageshack.us/img...

Re: Notchy?
it means the shifting motion feels just that, notchy. you can feel it coming out of gear, pushing against the synchro, and clicking into gear. as opposed to being a perfectly smooth, fluid motion. personally i prefer a shifter that is at least a little notchy. i like the feedback of what's going on....
