Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Waiting for parts from said; California, Germany, and Vancouver... dropped the car off Wednesday evening and haven't seen it since. Got put into a base model 2017 Jetta for the time being. I won't complain as it beats the alternative but with that being said this car is pretty lackluster. I keep ha...

Re: Finally got another car

not sure what gear oil/lube would work best in your tranny (paging sir watkins??), but i found amsoil gear lube to work well in my maxima's finicky tranny. i changed it out every 20k miles, that tranny would get mean otherwise.

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

You could scale back but still select for the features that matter to you. you'll get used to it. fahgleitz and powerful bulbs to the rescue. what kind of car would you be getting that doesn't have heated seats though?!? :?: :? :o  Not necessarily which kind of annoys me but I'm probab...

Happy New Year Standard Shift - I'll section all of my life updates... most of them being pretty bad. uh oh... VW GTI - It's actually broken. Not broken enough to not drive but my gauge cluster is a Christmas tree. Error messages from MIB are reading "Error: ESC / Error: TPMS System&qu...

Re: Winter Tars

Letting air out won't net appreciably better grip strength? I'm speaking specifically winter since my winter tires have never been brilliant, thus my wondering if I'm using them wrong. i thought you're supposed to overinflate them to help narrow the contact patch and do other magical stuff. ...

Re: Winter Tars

Can we go back to calling them "snow tires" now? They're designed for winter weather conditions in wintery places; they're made for snow and ice traction. I know everybody loves to talk about grip on dry pavement in cold temperatures, but ferchrissake any crappy worn-bald tire (no-season,...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Just saw it in half. Hot glue it together whenever you want to use it. What could possibly go wrong? don't b so stupid. Glue won't hold two halves of a canoe together. Haven't you learned anything from watching tv? You send for some of that tape the guy used to put the two halves of his boat ...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

I guess I'm just gonna rent a canoe come this spring and try it out with the two dogs and what not. I'll see how it goes. I did measure the longest wall in my apartment, though, and a 16' canoe would be a tight fit, so I'm not even sure I want to deal with that. I might just rent a canoe as I need ...

Re: Misc Thread VI: Return of the Threadi

Been there, done that. We collectively prefer the kayaks. The canoe is also just too damn inconvenient to deal with. Its too wide to fit on my roof racks, so I either need to make extensions or continue to transport it on the trailer. We bring it out once a year for our major camping trip, and even...

Volkswagen Jetta essentials: A manual makes everything better http://hanabi.autoweek.com/sites/default/files/styles/gen-1200-675/public/2017_jetta-4148.jpg?itok=XoRRh5CU Our Opinion: How many Jetta shoppers will take theirs with a manual transmission? Not many, I’d venture, but this is a perfect ex...

Re: Tired of Junk Clutch Hydraulics

Fixed it! Got rid of the Ranger back in October and bought my son's 2001 Chevy S10 5-speed manual. The clutch in the S10 works great. I notice where the Ranger has the clutch master cylinder in a near vertical position, the S10 clutch master is dead level. There is going to be a much easier bleed i...

Earth to Standardshift?! Wake up Standardshift!! Engage: STANDARDSHIFT!!!! :o :D :!: Shark bait: bahaha! Question: Malcolm requires 0W-20, but the dealer put in 5W-20 according to the sticker. Should I be concerned or is it common practice to use a slightly thicker blend during winter months? I've ...
